I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas (and LMHC in Florida) and an Air Force veteran with experience in deployments. I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling and Psychology and am qualified to provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy. I help individuals and families with depression, anxiety, life changes, trauma (PTSD), anger management, parenting, and relationship challenges. I also have worked extensively with LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.
My approach
My counseling style is a combination of warmth and empathy, along with tactful honesty and accountability. I believe in allowing my clients to take ownership of their therapy and gain skills in advocating for themselves and their loved ones. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psycho-education, mindfulness, and humanistic treatment approaches. I understand that sometimes all a person needs is an attentive ear but also quick and useful solutions to problematic symptoms or issues.
My focus
I have experience working to help individuals manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, communication, parenting, life goals, existential focus, gender identity, LGBTQIA+, polyamory, and other various life challenges.
My communication style
Your sessions will be a safe, non-judgmental place to talk about what is on your mind, how you feel, and the struggles and challenges you are facing in life or processing past events that are keeping you stuck in old patterns that no longer serve you.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've wanted to be a therapist and help people on their journey through life since my early 20s. I spent some time in the military to help pay for college and traveled nationally and internationally for work and leisure. I have enjoyed the process of becoming a therapist and finding fulfillment in practicing therapy. I enjoy getting to know people and helping them live happy authentic lives.
My goals for you
Better levels of functioning, emotion regulation, focus and attention, work productivity, relationship and communication building, and living authentically.
My first session with you
The first sessions are information gathering and goal setting. It's the time to get to know one another and see if our personalities will work well together in a therapy setting.
