Welcome, all. My name is Laura and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I work with a broad range of clients and mental health concerns but focus on anxiety and depression, and LGBTQ clients, and love to assist with relationship concerns. My approach is holistic: I focus on changing thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
My approach
I practice cognitive-behavioral therapy with a focus on the way thinking affects the way we interact with the world. I love helping people connect to the present and learn how to be more mindful in day-to-day living. I want to know what works for every individual because there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy!
My focus
I work with clients of all ages and genders across a wide spectrum of concerns, such as anxiety; depression; Bipolar disorders; anger issues; relationship problems; substance use; grief; behavioral issues; ADHD; and LGBTQ issues.
My communication style
I strongly believe that life is difficult enough and that therapy should be easy, relaxed, and chill. Bring your dog or cat to the session, put on your comfiest clothes, and unwind for the day.
My journey to mental healthcare
Like many helping professionals, I went into the field to learn more about myself and found psychology to be totally fascinating. I also believe that my life's work is to help people, animals, and the planet. I want to put all of those years of education to good use and am passionate about helping people solve their problems.
My goals for you
Goal setting is always a collaborative approach, as you are the expert in your own life and know what works and what does not. I want everyone to leave each session feeling a little more hopeful and having tools to use to manage symptoms.
My first session with you
In the first session, most people spend time helping me get to know them and the conversation is free flowing and relaxed. Questions are welcome and there is no pressure to find things to say.
