Greetings, my name is Dennis Steelman, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma.
My approach
I believe treatment should be transparent and simple to understand. Treatment should also be effective in a way that you come away with tangible skills for managing symptoms and situations that may arise after treatment ends. These are instruments and lessons you will obtain in treatment. I am primarily a cognitive therapist with experience in CBT, CPT, and EMDR.
My focus
Throughout the years of my clinical practice, I have found that clients who want to learn how to manage their symptoms from a practical standpoint often are successful in my approach to treatment.
My communication style
In every session, you will receive a person who is calm and reflective. You will also receive a professional who is punctual and consistent throughout the course of treatment.
My goals for you
Goal setting is the roadmap to therapy and gives us the directions and targets needed to be treated. Goal setting is a collaboration between an individual and the professional therapist in which an individual defines a problem and the therapist is tasked with determining how their skills best meet the needs of that individual in resolving that issue.
My first session with you
First impressions are everything. Our first session will involve what is commonly referred to as an intake. During this session, you and I will be getting to know each other and determining whether or not we are able to work together in a collaboration for treatment. The first session is very unique and there will be a lot of questions coming from me that are unlike any other session that you will experience in that the basic goal of the first session is to help identify the problem, determine how the problem may have been created, and how we can resolve the problem.
