Hello and welcome! In session I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental and relaxing environment for you to share your needs and goals. My approach is very client-centered and supportive. You decide what you want from your session and let me know how I can best support you.
My approach
I approach therapy as a partnership. I am here to support my client in reaching their therapeutic goals. The primary therapeutic modalities I use are CBT, Strength Base, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused ACT, and Trauma-Focused.
My focus
I enjoy working with clients who are working through trauma, and life events/transitions.
My communication style
During a session, I believe in being serious and supportive when necessary, but I love to laugh with my clients and celebrate their progress and successes. I try to provide a welcoming and relaxed environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am a first-generation college student who originally pursued social work to help others and provide them with the support I had from my family. The majority of my career has been working with homeless, runaway, at-risk youth/young adults and families. During this time, I met many who had experienced developmental trauma, exploitation, and abuse from those who were supposed to love them. I have also worked with many youth/young adults who aged out of the foster care system. My experience and my desire to do more led me to become a therapist. I want to help them move through their experiences and achieve their life goals. I wanted to support others while they worked through their experiences and healed. I believe that healing is what helps people achieve their personal and professional goals.
My goals for you
My goal is for clients to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and empowered to make it through the week. I also set goals or tasks, as appropriate, with a client to try a new skill or do an activity that will assist them. Long-term, the client will feel stronger and more empowered, having identified tools that will assist them in managing life experiences and achieving their life goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, we will take the time to discuss why you decided to seek therapy. What do you hope you will gain from coming to therapy? We will also discuss any reservations you have about doing therapy.
