As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 35 years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, and couples. My tenure encompasses various settings such as correctional institutions, outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals, school-based health programs, therapeutic foster care, residential treatment, online counseling, and corporate environments.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), coaching, and solution-focused techniques. I strive to create a supportive and collaborative environment where clients can explore their challenges, develop effective coping skills, and work towards achieving their goals. By tailoring my approach to each individual's unique needs, I aim to facilitate meaningful change and personal growth.
My focus
Throughout my career, I have focused primarily on treating depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. I also have extensive experience working with children who display symptoms related to ADD and ADHD. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers clients to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and self-awareness.
My communication style
I believe in the power of open, honest communication and strive to create a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and validated. By actively listening and engaging in collaborative dialogue, I work with clients to identify their strengths, explore their concerns, and develop practical strategies for positive change. My communication style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust and mutual respect.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare began with a deep-rooted passion for helping others. Inspired by the transformative potential of therapy, I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I further honed my clinical skills through a clinical internship at the nationally recognized Dallas Child and Family Guidance Center.
My goals for you
As your therapist, my primary goal is to support you in achieving your full potential and leading a fulfilling life. I am dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we will work to identify and overcome obstacles, develop effective coping strategies, and cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-compassion. My aim is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and confidence.
My first session with you
During our first session, my priority is to create a warm, welcoming environment where you feel comfortable sharing your story. I will take the time to listen attentively, gain a comprehensive understanding of your concerns, and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process. Together, we will discuss your goals, expectations, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and aspirations. This initial session serves as the foundation for our therapeutic journey, setting the stage for a collaborative and transformative experience.
