Hi there, I'm Roman Coronado, are you feeling somewhat stuck in life? Thinking you are too hard on yourself, but also feeling tired of being burdened by the weight of feeling unhappy, unmotivated, or just excessively worrying. Are you struggling with your health, work, or relationship? I help individuals work through these challenges and help manage them whether it's anxiety, depression, or something else. I can understand that seeking therapy can seem scary, overwhelming, or even questionable, but you are making the right choice. My goal is to empower my clients and offer them skills that will help them overcome the challenges they face, so they can live full and happy lives. I will provide a safe place for you to heal and grow.
My approach
We'll use a whole self-approach, addressing the needs of your mind, body, and spirit. I also integrate mindfulness, and coping suggestions, and help you develop a stronger relationship with yourself. Common theoretical approaches I may frequently use can include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I have also been trained to use the EMDR approach and may adjust my approach to meet your needs.
My focus
I am licensed in Texas with many years of experience helping clients with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, and career difficulties. I am comfortable working with Men and Women, Teens. My experience includes working with Veterans, families in child welfare services, educational settings, and elderly patients in nursing homes.
My communication style
My approach is person-centered, warm, and nonjudgmental. You will be given a chance to have someone listen to you, enabling you to focus on your life goals. We may spend some time rapport building, discussing some history. Session can be either in English or Spanish.
My journey to mental healthcare
Growing up in a Hispanic culture, I was raised with the idea of keeping feelings and emotions internally. As I grew up, I began to notice that this was a common occurrence in individuals, sometimes individuals did not feel they had a safe place to talk about their thoughts without the worry of feeling judged. Therefore, I decided that I want to break this misconception and be someone that can allow individuals to have someone that will listen to them with compassion, understanding and empathy. I learned that some of my own childhood traumas had shaped how I perceived the world and my outlook toward life.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting will depend on you. Will may discuss coming up with some SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time). We will discuss using different approaches to work on achieving goals and will celebrate achievements.
My first session with you
Your first session will ease anxiety as we build rapport. My approach is person-centered, warm, and nonjudgmental. You will be given a chance to have someone listen to you, enabling you to focus on your life goals. The session can be either in English or Spanish.
