Hi there, I'm Shelby. I am a psychotherapist licensed in Ohio with specialty areas in trauma, and serving veterans and their spouses. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, and trauma. I believe in working with clients and couples to identify strengths and develop the skills needed to navigate life's challenges.
My approach
My therapy style is warm, laid-back, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. After your first session, you can expect to feel hopeful and have a clear understanding of the goals that we will work on together in therapy. Through therapy, you'll gain the knowledge and skills that you need to handle life stressors and mental health symptoms.
My focus
I enjoy working with individual adult clients and couples. The goals and needs that I see most often in my practice are improving overall well-being, reducing stress, and improving communication.
My communication style
I am calm and laid back. I use active listening to gain information about the situation and to ask targeted questions to help get the client thinking about things from a deeper or different perspective.
My journey to mental healthcare
My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy. I also believe in the importance of physical activity and overall well-being as a pillar of good mental health. I will tailor our sessions and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
My goals for you
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker, I serve adults who are seeking to improve their mental health and overall well-being, using a person-centered approach. This means that you will have a safe space to be yourself without judgment. Together we will define and enhance your strengths to help you achieve healing and wellness.
My first session with you
In your first therapy session, you can expect to share a bit about your history and some of the things that are bringing you to therapy. We will then work together collaboratively to set goals for treatment. These goals will serve as a roadmap and help make it clear where we are headed.
