Hi! My name is Cassandra Zocco and I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York State. I work with adults ages 18+ and specialize in anxiety, trauma, and mood disorders.
My approach
I use a dynamic and holistic therapeutic approach, drawing from a diverse range of evidence-based approaches to meet each client's unique needs. These approaches include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
My focus
I have worked with a wide range of diagnoses, but my passion lies in helping individuals overcome the challenges posed by anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and trauma. I find immense fulfillment in guiding individuals toward a path of resilience, self-acceptance, and emotional stability.
My communication style
In my counseling practice, I pride myself on fostering a laid-back and non-judgmental communication style. I firmly believe that the therapeutic journey should be one where clients feel safe to express themselves openly and honestly. My goal is to create an environment where clients feel heard and validated in their experiences while working towards solutions and personal growth.
My first session with you
"What brings you into counseling?" is typically where I start. I will ask questions to gain a better understanding of the problems you are facing and how they are impacting your life. I also will ask general questions about your family, interests, life experiences, and day-to-day life. If there are things you would like to address in therapy, but are not comfortable sharing at our first meeting, no worries! That's normal and we can always revisit that topic another day when we have gotten to know each other a bit more.
