Hi, my name is Alysann. It is nice to meet you. I started my background as a therapist in a psychiatric hospital and later moved to outpatient therapy. I have years of experience treating various diagnoses and utilizing different therapy modalities. My goal is to provide you with tools that you can use to achieve the best quality of life possible.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is a strengths-based approach, which means I will empower you by building on your strengths. I specialize in OCD, Anxiety, Depression, Alcohol Addiction, Eating Disorders, Sleep/Insomnia, Stress, Self-esteem, Coping Skills, and Chronic Pain. I am trained in many different modalities such as ERP, DBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and ACT.
My focus
I tailor my therapy modality to the individual. I will find what approach will aid you the most and will give you the tools and resources to help accomplish any goals you might have.
My communication style
My communication style is open and non-judgmental. In therapy, it is important for me to create a safe space where you feel comfortable talking about anything. I use active listening and reflecting skills to ensure you feel understood and heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
Ultimately, I became a therapist because I wanted to help other people. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a social worker and make a difference in the life of others. I saw injustices happening around me, and I wanted to do something about it. I started working in a hospital and ultimately decided outpatient would be the most effective way to use my skills to assist people long-term.
My goals for you
The way I set you up to succeed is by teaching you and giving you the tools to manage any problem or issue that comes your way. I also empower you to show that you have the strength within yourself to get through anything. I will be there for support to help you manage anything you need help with until you feel you longer need the extra support.
My first session with you
I know reaching out to a therapist and opening up to a stranger can be difficult, so my first session will focus on getting to know each other. There will be no pressure to open up more than you feel comfortable with because sometimes it can take some time to open up to a new person, but I am here to listen and help in any way I can.
