As a mental health professional with a diverse background, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. Growing up as a first-generation Puerto Rican in the South Bronx, raised by a single parent, and serving as a military veteran for 13 years, I have faced many challenges that have shaped my core beliefs and approach to therapy.
My approach
I utilize an eclectic mix of techniques in my practice, including solution-focused, experiential, trauma-informed, and cognitive behavioral approaches. My goal is to help clients better navigate the challenges that the world presents, from the womb to the tomb, as it is how we traverse these challenges that ultimately define us.
My focus
I work with individuals, including minors aged 13-17. My areas of specialty include addiction, anger management, coping skills, dual diagnosis, grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, life transitions, trauma and PTSD, and transgender issues.
My communication style
I pride myself on my empathy and transparency in my interactions with clients. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is paramount for change to begin, and I strive to foster a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust and understanding.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare began with my own experiences growing up in a challenging environment and serving in the military. These experiences drove me to want to help others navigate life's difficulties. I completed my clinical hours for licensure from 2013-2015 at the Queens Consultation Center, Canarsie Aware, and Bridging Access to Care in New York.
My goals for you
My goals for you are to help you develop the skills and insights needed to overcome the issues you are facing, whether that is coping with addiction, managing anger, processing grief, navigating life transitions, or healing from trauma. I aim to empower you to lead a more fulfilling and authentic life.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will focus on getting to know one another and beginning to build a therapeutic relationship. I will seek to understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals for therapy. Together, we will start to develop a plan for how to best support you on your journey towards healing and growth.
