My name is Ashley Chiariello and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH-7642) practicing in the State of Florida. I have 20 years of experience focused on individual therapy in the areas of grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and stress. My hope is to provide a warm and accepting environment where my clients can grow to understand themselves more deeply and improve their quality of life.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We will work together to assess how our thoughts elicit emotional responses and how we can shape those thoughts to improve outcomes. I want my clients to feel free of judgment as we explore core beliefs that are impeding growth. I love creating a welcoming atmosphere where we can laugh together, cry if necessary, and otherwise walk together through the journey to better mental health.
My focus
I work with clients both male and female identifying. I feel comfortable treating issues of grief and loss, anxiety, depression, as well as self-confidence and self-esteem. Many of my clients have work-related stress and interpersonal issues and have recognized a need to improve their quality of life through better mental health.
My communication style
I enjoy a warm and collaborative environment where we work together to uncover areas of focus. We will set goals and create accountability toward those goals. I love to laugh and approach life with humor and joy. My hope is that each of my clients is able to recover their own joy of living in spite of their circumstances.
My journey to mental healthcare
I think my love for people developed at an early age. That love, coupled with a natural ability to listen, led me to this career. I am fascinated by human behavior and I really enjoy getting to know the diversity of our population as well as the unique struggles that contribute to who we are. Life is really hard and even though the blows can be frequent, we can cultivate joy and passion for living well. If I can help people find this for themselves, my heart is full.
My goals for you
Goal setting is completely collaborative and largely steered by my clients. As we uncover problematic areas of life, my clients are encouraged to make those goals specific, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). We can make short-term and longer-term goals but the objective will be to make life better and better.
My first session with you
In the first session, we will explore what led you to therapy in the first place. You can share anything and everything of importance to you and I may ask a lot of questions as we get to know each other. You are welcome to ask questions of me as well while we join forces to decide our therapeutic goals together.
