My approach
We'll work together to improve your emotional regulation and mental well-being through evidence-based therapies, self-reflection exercises, and skill-building activities. As a result, you can expect increased self-awareness, resilience, and a greater sense of life balance.
My focus
I work with a wide range of clients, each presenting unique experiences and challenges. My primary areas of specialty lie in treating various forms of trauma disorders, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex-PTSD, and Acute Stress Disorder. Additionally, I am proficient in working with clients dealing with attachment issues, both adults and children. My expertise also extends to managing common mental health conditions like anxiety and depression and helping clients navigate through grief and significant life transitions. My extensive experience in these areas allows me to offer compassionate, personalized care to each individual, helping them foster resilience and move toward healing.
My communication style
I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment during my sessions. I aim for a tone of understanding, compassion, and empathy. The therapeutic relationship is a partnership, so I approach each session as a collaborative effort. Clients can expect to feel heard, respected, and validated working with me. I believe in creating a safe space where clients feel comfortable expressing their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. My approach is flexible, adapting to the needs of each client to provide personalized care.
My journey to mental healthcare
What initially drew me to a career as a therapist was a deep desire to help others. I've always been fascinated by the complexities of the human mind and how our experiences can shape our behaviors and emotions. The idea of using this knowledge to assist individuals in overcoming their challenges felt like a meaningful way to make a difference. What drives me in this work is the privilege of being allowed into someone's personal world, to witness their struggles, their triumphs, and the resilience of the human spirit. There is something deeply rewarding about being a part of someone's journey toward healing and self-discovery. Additionally, I am continuously inspired by the transformations that can occur in therapy. Seeing clients develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and effective coping strategies, and knowing I played a role in that, is incredibly fulfilling. Lastly, I value the constant learning that comes with being a therapist. Every client is unique, and with each individual, I learn more about human resilience, adaptability, and the myriad ways we cope with adversity. This ongoing learning and personal growth are other aspects that keep me passionate about my work as a therapist.
My goals for you
Clients can also expect a sense of optimism and empowerment. I help them recognize their strengths, develop new coping mechanisms, and move toward personal growth goals. I am committed to supporting my clients' journey toward improved mental health and overall well-being.
My first session with you
During a first session with me, you can expect an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and confidentiality. The initial appointment, often called an intake session, is a time for us to get to know each other and begin building a therapeutic relationship. We'll start by discussing some logistical matters, such as confidentiality and what to do in case of an emergency. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the therapy process. Next, we'll delve into the reason for seeking therapy. I will invite you to share your issues, personal history, and any goals you might have for our work together. This might include questions about your mental health history, current symptoms or difficulties, family background, and significant life events. However, knowing that you are not expected to share everything in the first session is important. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. By the end of the session, I aim to provide a preliminary assessment, including some initial thoughts about our therapeutic plan. We might also discuss potential therapeutic strategies or interventions that could be helpful.
