Hello, I'm Alicia! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is committed to supporting all of my clients in achieving growth and overcoming life challenges. I am based in West Palm Beach, Florida, and work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with all populations, but I specialize in working with adolescents, anxiety, stress, and relationship discord.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies and is tailored to the individual and specific needs of each client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered, as these modalities meet the client with empathy, mindfulness, and unconditional positive regard, to assist the client in achieving their goals. I believe in collaborating with my clients to enhance communication and strengthen therapeutic goals.
My focus
I have worked with all ages, however, I most frequently work with adolescents who are typically experiencing life transitions that may lead to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. I help my clients to build the skills that allow them to overcome their obstacles and obtain their goals.
My communication style
I want my clients to feel comfortable and safe when working with me. I provide a nonjudgemental and warm environment for my clients to ensure for them open communication. I pride myself on confidentiality and empathetic listening.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I am passionate about helping others to become the best version of themselves. I have a natural ability to make genuine connections with people, and along with my strong empathetic listening skills, these qualities have always driven me towards helping others through difficulties. I found myself frequently providing my friends and family with an objective and positive outlook and thoroughly enjoy guiding them through their struggles. I think being a therapist is very rewarding and plays an important role in our communities.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is to work together to define what therapeutic goals you want to accomplish in our time together. I encourage the client to be involved and vocal about what they want to achieve and to establish realistically achievable goals for themselves.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to talk about how you’ve been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us developing trust, getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy, and gaining a shared understanding of the client's reality. Forming this initial connection helps me to get a sense of how I can help and what the client needs.
