Hello, I'm Pat I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Florida and am honored to work with my clients by helping them move through the challenges of life. In my 15-plus years in the field, I have had the opportunity to work with our military, community mental health, corrections, substance use, and the geriatric population. Each person sharing their life and struggles is an honor and what drives my continued work in this field.
My approach
My approach is solution focused and driven by the needs of my client. One treatment strategy doesn't fit everyone so we work together on the best way to use your sessions. Respect and building relationships are the cornerstone of success. Some modalities for treatment include cognitive behavioral treatment (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). There are many ways to accomplish your goals for therapy.
My focus
I do best working with adults, ages 18 and up. My experience includes working with adults in a variety of settings including the community, correctional facilities, military bases, medical facilities, and homes. Some common reasons clients seek treatment may be natural life transitions, depression, anxiety, relationships, trauma, work stress, and addictions.
My communication style
My communication style is based on active listening, direct communication, and empathy. I have found most clients demonstrate how best they communicate and I adapt to their needs. The relationship we build is key to success.
My journey to mental healthcare
My background is a bit different. I worked in the field of law enforcement and corrections prior to working full-time as a therapist. It was evident in those earlier years that my desire was to help people move through difficult times in life. My experience has been diverse but has made me an empathetic and realistic therapist.
My goals for you
Goals for therapy are driven by each client. Sessions explore how you arrived at therapy and what you hope is the best outcome. Once a client feels they reached those goals, treatment is considered successful.
My first session with you
During our first sessions, we will share many questions including the reasons you are seeking therapy and what you hope to accomplish. We call this motivational interviewing and it is a way of gaining information and organizing it toward those goals.
