Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at my bio. I am Stephanie Turner-Johnson, a licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I have experience throughout the spectrum of the field, but specializing in adults with the change of life, relationship, depression, and anxiety issues.
My approach
My primary approach to therapy is humanistic, which works well with my CBT problem-solving techniques allowing me to get to know you better but also allowing me to help guide you through the problems you may be facing.
My focus
My ideal client is someone who understands that change takes time and that therapy takes time, trust, and dedication to making changes that can be sometimes difficult but rewarding. I am focusing my practice on adults 18-60 years old.
My communication style
I am honest, transparent, and caring when speaking with my client, which sometimes means telling them things they may not want to hear, but always in their best interest. I am often told that I am warm in my approach.
My journey to mental healthcare
It began with curiosity from non-fiction literature that drew to into the field of psychology in my teenage year. Reading about how much therapist helps clients grow seemed to be very rewarding. I began my training through double majoring in Psychology and Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. Working in a clinic focused on ADHD/Autism made me realize the need to further my education to a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
My goals for you
Clients will need to set their own goals in therapy because it's their session. My approach is to allow my clients to grow and learn while developing skills to tackle their challenges.
My first session with you
In the first session, I will be gathering important information to allow me to complete the intake assessment. It is also the perfect time for clients to provide the big picture about themselves and why they seek therapy.
