Hi there, my name is Rebecca Ray. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. My approach to therapy is an eclectic approach including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Committee Therapy, and Emotional Interviewing. I enjoy working with teens, young adults, couples, older adults, and families.
My approach
My most common theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy.
My focus
I have worked with all age groups. I am most effective at working with teens, adults, couples, and older adults.
My communication style
The tone is caring and professional. The environment is calm and supportive. I listen attentively and my clients feel respected and valued with hopes of successful outcomes to treatment.
My journey to mental healthcare
Being a therapist was my childhood dream. My mom and dad were pastors of a small country church. I saw their love and commitment to the needs of others. When people were hurting I wanted to help. I realized to do that in an effective way as a career, I needed the proper education and credentials. I took a detour into education and became a math teacher. Realizing I had not pursued my calling, I returned to education and became a mental health therapist, and later became a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have never lost the desire to assist others as they make the decision to enrich their life.
My goals for you
Based on information obtained in the assessments, I engage my clients in conversation relating to what they want to accomplish through their commitment to therapy. The client states the need and the goal. I assist with helping client reach their goals through measurable and time-sensitive objectives.
My first session with you
They should expect a friendly, accepting atmosphere with a focus on their needs. To engage the client we would discuss their strengths and their obstacles as listed on their Assessment/Treatment Plan.
