My name is Alicia Godels-Blackshere. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), working with clients in the state of West Virginia by way of Telehealth. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, anger, stress, oppositional defiance disorder, anxiety, and depression.
My approach
I work with a variety of approaches, including Psychodynamic, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
My focus
I will only be offering Telehealth sessions. I prefer to work with adolescents and adults. My hours of operation will accommodate clients who are students or those who work full-time jobs. By offering services after hours, my objective is to see my clients get well, without disrupting their functioning.
My communication style
I strive to communicate receptively, empathically and thoughtfully. I want my clients to feel free and comfortable to express their feelings.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to help people. Whether it was as a Transplant Coordinator speaking with the loved ones of the recently deceased, whether it was serving as a recovery coach for those in my community struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, or whether it was standing by a friend who is going through a difficult time, I always found fulfillment in helping others.
My goals for you
My goal for you is to establish a collaborative relationship that makes you feel both valued and unjudged. This relationship is paramount for openly discussing symptoms and problems, allowing us to establish the best treatment plan for addressing the issues at hand.
My first session with you
You can expect me to ask you to tell me what it is like for you to live with your symptoms. We will discuss the various ways these symptoms have disrupted your life. Also, we will determine what your expectations are for our work together.
