I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of mental health care experience. I focus on building a therapeutic relationship with clients to reach their goals using several different intervention modalities. I am a creative motivator while respecting personal differences and diversity.
My approach
My style fuses behavioral and psychodynamic theories which provides a comprehensive approach that addresses observable behaviors but also seeks to unpack the deeper emotional and psychological issues contributing to those behaviors. This way the process is versatile, empathetic, and aimed at fostering both immediate change and long-term self-understanding.
My focus
I have a wide range of experience, from pre-adolescent residential treatment to intensive outpatient substance use disorder program therapy. I feel very comfortable with the diagnostic process and providing the appropriate treatment for mood and anxiety disorders along with psychotic disorders and communication issues.
My communication style
I like creating a warm and safe environment where you will feel understood and respected. I believe this approach is essential for exploring deeper emotional issues while also addressing behavioral patterns. I will strive to support you while encouraging you to reach your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was brought to this career by a desire to help others, as most of us in this field. I also had a deep interest in human behavior and my own experiences that led me to a lifelong search for inner peace and a way to help others find what they need for their journey.
My goals for you
I work collaboratively to clarify your needs and wants in the therapeutic process. This guides us to your goals. We discuss how best to reach those goals and I encourage you along the way. We also will review your goals and make changes when needed.
My first session with you
The first session is the beginning of our journey together but is also an important information-gathering time. While we get to know each other, I will be asking you about your history and what has brought you to therapy.
