I have a master's degree in clinical psychology and 33 years of experience as a licensed professional counselor. My goal is to get to the root of the challenge, in a compassionate, nonjudgemental way. My passion is to help clients get unstuck, so they are free to pursue their passions.
My approach
I believe a therapist is a co-participant in the process of healing. I offer established clinical practices incorporating cutting-edge holistic strategies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Brain Based Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Somatic and Movement Therapy, Play Therapy for children, and Christian-based therapy upon request.
My focus
I work with children and adults who have been impacted by trauma, stress, difficult life circumstances, or painful relationships. I am most comfortable treating Anxiety, Stress Management, Trauma, ADHD, Adoption and Foster children, children with atypical neurological issues, relationship and adjustment issues.
My communication style
I respect the opinions and experiences of my clients. We get to the root of their challenges with the goal of resolving them. At the start of working together, I offer a significant amount of education relative to their challenges. I believe that the truth sets us free so I equip them with as much truth as I can. As sessions continue, I become less of a teacher and more of a coach, and supporter. I approach each client with humility, as each person's experience, process, and pace, are unique and should never be judged or compared to another's.
My journey to mental healthcare
I love supporting clients in overcoming obstacles to achieve their goals, and dreams, and best quality of life.
My goals for you
I support my clients in choosing their own goals.
My first session with you
The first session is tailored to the needs and comfort level of each client and will include them sharing where they want to start, why they are seeking therapy at this time, what they hope to achieve, and prior experiences that went well or not so well for them in previous therapy experiences. Then I will share what I have to offer to support them in a manner that highlights their strengths and gives them hope. They choose the strategies they want to incorporate, and the collaborating process begins.
