Hi there! My name is Meghan Robbins and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. My experience is primarily working with children, teens, and adults specializing in topics related to depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, grief and loss, and trauma.
My approach
I have experience utilizing various therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. However, I believe that not one approach fits all and I prefer to take a collaborative approach that puts my clients in the driver's seat of their care.
My focus
I am most comfortable working with adolescents and young adults. However, I have experience with clients from all age ranges and backgrounds.
My communication style
I prefer to have a slightly laid-back approach to my therapy sessions. I never want my clients to feel like therapy is just another task on their to-do list. I hope that my clients can find some solace in the time they are meeting with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose a career in social work because of its versatility. Most of my experience so far is working in medical settings where I've been able to gain a lot of knowledge and experience navigating mental health alongside medical crises. However, the idea of creating a welcoming and relaxed environment for my clients in a therapy setting was very appealing to me.
My goals for you
I view goal setting as a flexible process. I prioritize my client's preferences when approaching goal setting and also understand that goals are flexible and ever-changing.
My first session with you
During the first session, I mostly want to get to know you! I will tell you a bit about myself and my approach, as well as some logistics (I know, real fun stuff). But I mostly want to get a feel for my clients and begin to understand what brings them to my (virtual) couch!
