My name is Christina Jarchow and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I work with adults and specialize in trauma with a focus on treating first responders and military members including veterans. I utilize CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and CPT Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat trauma and improve overall functioning.
My approach
My approach is client-centered and utilizes a holistic perspective that focuses on body, mind, and spirit to help treat the whole individual. I have found that trauma can be deep-rooted and it is important to treat both mind and body.
My focus
I mostly work with adults, however I have lots of experience working with children and love to help teach parents effective and positive discipline techniques by utilizing PCIT, Parent Child Interactive Therapy. I also have a lot of experience treating various types of trauma and enjoy seeing the positive changes that happen in a short amount of time through CPT.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and I offer an environment free of judgment where clients can feel comfortable engaging without having to feel pressure to bring things to session to talk about.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to help people and started my career as a case manager working with children and teens and then began working in child welfare. I wanted to learn more skills and gain more experience and began working in community mental health and then started becoming more specialized through working in a group practice and then in my own private practice. I enjoy working with all populations, but especially enjoy working with first responders, military service members, and veterans. As a spouse of a military veteran, I have a special interest in helping those who have experienced trauma and love to see individuals succeed and be the best version of themselves.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is helping a client identify those areas that have become challenging and helping a client learn coping mechanisms and skills to help improve and achieve goals.
My first session with you
What you can expect for the first session with me is learning more about you and the symptoms that you have been experiencing. It's a time of exploring your family history and getting to know you better. This is the first step to begin building that initial connection.
