Danielle Maronick LW00009607 I have always had an interest in how the brain works and how we think about things that affect our outcomes. I am a believer that changing our self-messaging can impact our lives. This process is done through an exploration of the past, present, and future.
My approach
I approach my practice as a journey in which we look at past relationships, and present relationships, and hope for future relationships. I find how others have spoken to us and how we speak to our ourselves have powerful impacts on our lives, goals, and relationships. My focus is on cognitive behavioral therapy, visualization, breathing exercises, and narrative writing. I do provide homework and weekly goals to work on in between sessions. I feel for therapy to be productive and create change, it must be put into practice in your day-to-day life.
My focus
My preference is for clients that are 18 years and older. I specialized in depression, anxiety, ADHD, parenting, chronic medical conditions, acute medical conditions, addictions, trauma, codependency, life coaching, and domestic violence.
My communication style
Clients find that I am a good listener and have a soft tone of voice. I tend to be solution-focused. I provide therapeutic exercises for clients to find different paths in their lives to meet their goals. However, I do realize that some days we all have more to give than others, and solutions and progress will not be found. My motto for life is progress, not perfection.
My journey to mental healthcare
Honestly, I was like most with no direction and clear path to a career. I grew up in a small rural town and went away to a Christian college. I was drawn to the psychology courses and fascinated by the mind/body connection. I was amazed at how powerful the brain was. How it controlled all functions of the body and could shut down mechanisms of the body if injured. I have spent the majority of my career working in medical institutions with populations with chronic and acute conditions, dementia, brain injury, addiction, hospice, adult protection, the Department of Justice, and behavioral health. I have come to understand that the only pieces in life that we really have control over are within us. There is a lot of good and a lot of bad in life. However, it comes down to our perspective and our thinking around it. Truly the changes we want are within, sometimes it just takes letting go of the messages of the past to find the voice within.
My goals for you
The goals we set are based on what is important to you! I know that therapy is like the old saying, "You can't eat an elephant in one bite". There might be a lot of issues you want to address, or you just want to address a few. You may only be emotionally capable of working on one area at a time and then want to come back later. You lead!
My first session with you
My first sessions are about relationship building and assessing past, present, and future. We will discuss goals and your expectations. This is just as much as an interview process for you to see if I am the right fit for you, Therapy is hard, and you want to always make sure that you can feel that you can do the work with the person. I will never take it personally if I am not the right fit.
