My name is Sarah Bessette, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I work with clients to find practical solutions and tools to challenges that arise. As we work collaboratively together, we will use goals to guide treatment and measure progress toward those goals together.
My approach
My approach is to meet the clients where they are. I utilize cognitive strategies and tools (CBT) as well as neuroscience to develop a plan that is manageable for the individual. I focus on solutions to support each person coming to therapy, according to what the client states the desired outcome is.
My focus
I am experienced in working with a variety of anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities. I am trained in CBT, EMDR, and mindfulness techniques. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and children on a wide range of issues.
My communication style
I ensure a comfortable environment where each person can feel heard, seen, and supported. I look forward to providing care to my clients and am constantly encouraged by the progress I see my clients making every day.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist when I saw firsthand the power of accountability and support it provides. I am truly passionate about this work, and look forward to the opportunity to support individuals, couples, and families in making the changes in their lives that will allow them to be the absolute best version of themselves.
My goals for you
I work with my clients to develop goals that feel relevant and measurable. Many people are unsure about what they would like to work on in therapy, so it may take time for these goals to fully develop. I am here to support you along the way.
My first session with you
During our initial session, it is a lot of information gathering on my end, followed by collaboratively setting goals. Depending on the issues the client is facing, I try to ensure that the member leaves the initial session with at least one to two things they can try before the next time we meet.
