Hi there, I'm Arlether!

Hello There! I'm Arlether. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in Kirkland, WA. I also see clients virtually in Texas. In my practice I work with clients with substance abuse and mental health challenges, helping them regain control over their lives.

My approach

My approach is client-centered and solution-focused. I encourage clients to consider their readiness for change through Motivational Interviewing, a therapy modality that helps create meaningful change in one's life. Clients learn techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I teach clients how to avoid the cognitive distortions that hold them back from feeling balanced, whole, and loved. My style is empathetic, understanding, and professional as I offer my expertise.

My focus

I work with clients ages 18 and up who are dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues to help them regain control over their lives. Many of my clients are referred from EAPs, professional boards, and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). I also help those with depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, career and relationship issues, and those experiencing overwhelming grief.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental, and conversational.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist has been rewarding and I am very grateful. I initially began my journey in law enforcement as an officer and victim services advocate, which sparked my love for behavioral health. After nearly two decades of working in the field, I wanted to do more to give back, so I earned my master's degree and then my doctoral degree in psychology. Since then, I have worked in numerous settings as a mental health professional including forensics, corrections, private practice, hospitals, rehabilitation, and many more. I love what I do.

My goals for you

I believe that there is no "one size fits all" in therapy, so I approach each client's concerns individually to tailor interventions, goals, and objectives based on presenting symptoms.

My first session with you

During your first session, we will get to know one another. This includes discussing any needs or concerns you'd like to address during your treatment. We will also discuss some of the things you may have done in the past to manage your mental health.
