You really can live a life of peace, purpose, and joy! Hi, I’m Sylvia, an LCSW with nearly 15 years of experience in the field of social work. I’m passionate about being a guide who helps you achieve the changes, solutions, and relationships you are looking for in a way that makes you feel seen, connected and understood.
My approach
I am fully trained in EMDR and can utilize this approach to help with trauma or stuck experiences stored in your body. When working together, my focus will be on you and your goals. My therapeutic approach is strength-based, client-centered, and solution-focused. I also interweave components of cognitive behavioral therapies and mindfulness.
My focus
Life inevitably holds struggle, but you don’t have to be stuck there. You can find a way to move through the emotional pain, trauma, anxiety, anger, hopelessness, and complex relationships into a life of beauty, confidence, delight, and meaning. I've experience working with a variety of conditions including anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, mood disorders, and relationship difficulties.
My communication style
As a therapist, my style is warm, real, down-to-earth, and solution-focused. My goal is to help you gain clarity and acceptance about who you are as a person so that you can feel connected and understood and live into what’s important in your life, whether it be family, friends, work, spirituality, or other areas.
My journey to mental healthcare
Ever since I was a little girl, I've enjoyed hearing others' stories and seeing the potential in others. My role models are Mother Teresa and Dorothy Day, and they've inspired me because they took great risks to work for the betterment of others, challenged existing social norms and structures, and built a community where others were valued and contributed meaningfully to their community. I find meaning in coming alongside others as a guide to help build a life of peace, purpose, and joy.
My goals for you
As we work together, I'll help bring clarity to your current situation, and together, we can identify the solutions and changes you desire in your life.
My first session with you
Taking that step to start therapy can be intimidating, but I hope you’ll discover how courageous you can be! During our first session, we'll take time to get to know each other. I'll listen to what brings you to therapy, get a sense of where you are in life at the moment, what influences your situation, what has shaped you into who you are, and what it can look like to live into what's important in your life.
