Licensed in VA

Hi there, I'm Ramfis!

I’m Dr. Ramfis L. Marquez, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I’m here to support you in finding balance and clarity in your life, helping you uncover your strengths and work toward your personal goals. We’ll explore ways to manage life’s challenges together, whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or simply looking to improve your overall well-being.

My approach

My approach is centered on you, using trauma-informed and mindfulness techniques that focus on healing and growth.

My focus

My client focus is on individuals, couples, and families who are seeking support in managing life’s challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, compassionate, and client-centered, with a focus on creating a supportive and non-judgmental space. You convey empathy and understanding, allowing clients to feel heard and valued.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist was rooted in a deep desire to help people heal and grow. From a young age, I was drawn to understanding human behavior and the emotional complexities that shape our lives. This curiosity, combined with a strong sense of empathy, made me realize that I wanted to dedicate my life to supporting others in overcoming their challenges. What attracted me to a career as a therapist was the profound impact that emotional and mental health can have on every aspect of a person’s life. I wanted to be a part of the process that helps individuals navigate their struggles and emerge stronger, more self-aware, and empowered. The human mind’s capacity to heal and adapt, even in the face of trauma and adversity, is something that has always inspired me. What drives me to do this work is witnessing the transformation in my clients. Every time someone gains insight, learns to cope better with life’s stressors, or reaches a personal milestone, it reaffirms why I chose this path. I believe in the power of human connection, the importance of a supportive therapeutic relationship, and the ability of people to thrive when given the right tools and environment. This keeps me passionate about the work I do every day.

My goals for you

My goal-setting approach is clear and collaborative, guiding clients toward personal growth by helping them explore their challenges and strengths.

My first session with you

During a first session with me, clients should expect empathy and understanding, allowing them to feel heard and valued. We’ll start by discussing your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. I’ll ask questions to get to know you better—your background, current challenges, and personal goals. Together, we’ll explore how life’s stressors, past experiences, or any specific concerns like anxiety, depression, or trauma may be affecting you. This session is an open and safe space where we’ll begin building a foundation for trust, and I’ll introduce my holistic, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based approach to help guide your healing process.
