Hi there, I'm Erin!

My name is Erin Janovec, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Practitioner in Virginia. I take a humanistic and holistic approach to therapy, incorporating various techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. My focus areas include anxiety, depression, trauma, and ADHD.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is centered on a humanistic and holistic philosophy, where I view each client as a unique individual with strengths and potential for growth. I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space where you can freely share your thoughts and feelings. I commonly integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). By blending these evidence-based practices, I tailor my approach to address each client's specific needs and goals, ensuring that our work together is both effective and deeply personalized.

My focus

I typically work with individuals who are navigating challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and ADHD. I am particularly comfortable treating clients who have experienced complex trauma and those dealing with the impacts of substance use. My approach is supportive and empathetic, and I strive to create a safe environment where clients can explore their experiences and work toward healing and growth.

My communication style

My communication style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative. I strive to create a comfortable and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to express themselves openly. Working with me feels supportive and empowering as I encourage clients to actively participate in their healing process while providing guidance and understanding throughout our sessions. I aim to foster a trusting relationship where clients feel heard, valued, and motivated to achieve their personal goals.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. Having experienced substance use and mental health challenges myself, as well as within my family, I was drawn to this profession by a strong desire to help others navigate their struggles. This personal connection fuels my passion for the work I do every day, driving me to support my clients in improving their health, well-being, and overall life satisfaction. Helping others find hope and healing is not just a career for me; it’s a calling.

My goals for you

I approach goal setting as a collaborative and individualized process. Together, we identify your unique needs and aspirations and create realistic and meaningful goals aligning with your values and vision for the future. Throughout our sessions, we regularly revisit and adjust these goals to ensure they remain relevant and achievable, empowering you to take ownership of your progress and celebrate your successes.

My first session with you

During your first session with me, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we’ll focus on getting to know each other. We’ll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, explore your history, and identify your current challenges and goals. I’ll also explain my therapeutic approach and answer any questions. This initial session is an opportunity for us to build rapport and start forming a foundation for our work together, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported as we move forward.
