Hi there, I'm Monica!

Hi! I'm Monica Delaney, LPC, ATR-BC. I see individuals in their 20s, 30s, and 40s around issues related to anxiety, depression, emotional caregiving, and self-esteem. As a board-certified art therapist and licensed professional counselor, I use a range of techniques - sometimes incorporating art, writing, or movement - to help my clients find their authentic voice and experience personal freedom.

My approach

Our relationships, career choices, friendships, and inner worlds are shaped by what we learned early on in our significant relationships. I work with clients to understand and recognize the impact of their past on who they are today, and how to take actionable steps toward the life they want to start living. My approach is informed by trauma theory, mindfulness, neuroscience, and attachment theory.

My focus

I work with people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who are dealing with depression and/or anxiety, perfectionism, and people-pleasing tendencies. Many of my clients are caregivers either personally or professionally (I'm intimately familiar with healthcare and education settings), and I often work with new and young mothers who learning how to break generational cycles of emotional dysfunction. I also work with couples in the Gottman Method who are dealing with communication and other interpersonal issues.

My communication style

The success of therapy hinges on your relationship with your therapist. With trust, warmth, empathy, and humor (fun is important!) as building blocks, I strive to create an environment that feels safe to slowly push out of your comfort zone and learn new ways of relating to yourself and others.

My journey to mental healthcare

Being a therapist is the most rewarding career I could imagine. I love when something "clicks" and clients begin to apply what they're learning in therapy to their lives in a real and meaningful way.
