I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in the state of Utah. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults. I specialize in borderline personality disorders, recovering from trauma due to recreating, depressive disorders, and anxiety disorders.
My approach
I am flexible in my therapeutic approach based on the needs of my clients. I believe that all people are doing the best they can in each moment, but also want to improve themselves. I use a strength-based approach and utilize dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavior therapy. I also used EMDR with those working through trauma.
My focus
I am comfortable working with clients with most diagnoses and backgrounds. I have experience conducting dialectical behavior therapy groups which is beneficial for clients with borderline personality disorder, depression, and anxiety. As an active person myself, I also enjoy working with those who have experienced trauma from recreating/engaging in sports.
My communication style
Therapy is a place for you to express anything you want to without feeling the weight of judgment. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable to do so.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe in the power of therapy. I have benefitted from it throughout periods of my life and hope to be able to hold that space for other people. I believe being a therapist is an incredible privilege. I am so thankful for my clients (previous and future) who have trusted me with their stories and struggles.
My goals for you
Everyone comes to therapy for a reason. I want to get to know what your wanting to get out of therapy so we can work to create goals together.
My first session with you
Our first session is a chance for me to get to know you better, and learn your goals, and things you may have been struggling with lately. Don't feel like you need to do anything to prepare for this first session (unless you want to). Therapy can be intimidating especially if you have never been and my goal is to help you feel comfortable throughout the process.
