Hello! My name is Dr. Katherine (Katie) Kainer and I am a licensed psychologist based in San Antonio, TX. I am the owner of ReNew Psychological Services, PLLC and provide virtual therapy to clients all over Texas.
My approach
I work from client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, relational-cultural, and solution-focused approaches in therapy. I will tailor our treatment to meet your unique and specific needs.
My focus
I work with adults who experience various difficulties, including depression, anxiety, social anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, PTSD, trauma, anger, stress, body image, relational, communication, life transition/adjustment, grief/loss, burnout, work stress, perfectionism, self-esteem, family conflict, chronic pain, neurocognitive, military/veteran-related, and college mental health concerns. We will work together to explore, process, learn, and build awareness and strategies to help manage these concerns in your daily life.
My communication style
My communication style is genuine, warm, and compassionate, while also encouraging and motivating. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling life and to take the first steps towards growth and change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey, in a virtual space you can leave feeling renewed.
My journey to mental healthcare
My life experiences, my personality, and my passions have always been leading me to a career as a psychologist. In this work, I have found a way to channel my enthusiasm for learning, a strong connection to people, and a powerful compassion for others into practice. I love being a psychologist and feel fortunate to be a part of my clients' journey towards growth.

My approach to goal setting with clients involves being curious about who you are and what you would like to gain and accomplish from our time together. This often begins with building trust and comfort between us, which can serve as a foundation for setting goals and tracking your progress.

Our first session will focus on building a connection, as well as learning about you, your history, and how you have been feeling recently. We will explore what brought you to therapy and the goals for your therapy process.
