Hi, I'm Stefani Castro, a licensed clinical social worker, and I provide telehealth mental health therapy to Texas and Washington residents. I believe that the best therapy is not based on the intervention but rather on building an authentic, trusting relationship with your therapist, and that looks different for each person. Depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and other mental health issues can impair our ability to connect with others and keep us living in our heads. Therapy is not an easy task, but we don't get around our pain without working through it. And you don't have to do that alone...
My approach
I utilize a mixture of evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, trauma-focused CBT, and Motivational Interviewing with a relational, strengths-based, and psychodynamic approach to therapy.
My focus
I specialize in evidenced-based treatment of PTSD/trauma, depression, and anxiety in pre-teens, adolescents, and adults, working towards increased self-understanding and improving relationships.
My communication style
I seek to create a trusting and authentic relationship with clients through the use of humor and focus on therapeutic rapport. I want you to feel comfortable being your real self in therapy, not who you feel others want you to be.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that therapy is a labor of love and I've seen and experienced myself how feeling seen, heard, and validated in the presence of a mental health professional can improve how people see themselves and the world. I believe that having a strong "why" behind one's drive to be a therapist is important and drives/strengthens the art of connection and being a therapist.

I approach goal setting collaboratively with a focus on realistic goals that have a positive impact on functioning, self-esteem, and relationships.

In the first session, we will discuss what therapy will be like, what to expect in an assessment, and what brought you to therapy. You will be able to make an important decision about whether my style fits with your needs.
