My name is Melissa Recasner and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas, working with clients via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, and depression using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Jungian Therapy; to help guide my clients through their healing journey.

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of the client throughout the different stages of the healing journey. I approach therapy with an eclectic assortment of approaches and tools to individualize our work together to meet your needs.
My focus
I have experience working in a variety of different settings. I have worked in a women’s shelter for domestic abuse/sexual abuse survivors, psychiatric inpatient hospitalization, residential treatment centers, and group private practice.

My journey to mental healthcare
Throughout my teens, I struggled with my own mental health battle from trauma. Being raised in a Hispanic/African American household, this was a topic that was met with a religious reply. Knowing that this could not possibly be the only answer to the help I needed in these important moments, I set out to research other options. It was then that I encouraged my family to step outside of the cultural norms and seek Therapy and see a psychiatrist. As I navigated through my healing journey, with guidance from supportive Mental Health Professions, it was then that I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I got older.

I will work collaboratively to identify what goals you want to achieve through the therapy process. Together, we will work to uncover the root causes of your struggles and develop effective coping strategies to help you achieve your goals and find lasting relief.

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend time building our rapport and making our initial connection. This provides me with insight and a better understanding of the direction that we should go.
