My name is Dr. Dora Whiteside, LPC. My therapeutic approach is based largely on CBT and person-focused therapy. My focus areas of practice include depression, anxiety, and trauma.
My approach
I primarily use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, with a mix of Solution-based Therapy, and Person Center Therapy, and many different skills and interventions.
My focus
I have worked with clients from many different cultural/ethnic groups; and with various presenting problems. Including depression, anxiety; bipolar disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Psychosis, suicidal; and well as feelings of self-harm and/or others.
My communication style
When working with clients I like to begin to build the client and therapist relationship/rapport right away.
My journey to mental healthcare
I absolutely love what I do and I view each day as an opportunity to increase in love, peace, joy, and believing that all other increases will naturally follow. I work to increase both others and myself, to our best self.
My goals for you
After establishing a healthy client-therapist relationship, we work together to determine desired goals. I then do goal process check-ins during each session and provide additional strategies and feedback.
My first session with you
An initial discussion about current problems; client expectations for therapy and any concerns; therapist approach; and scheduling.
