Hello, I’m Patricia Garcia, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Case Manager (CCM). I specialize in providing client-centered, empathetic care, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to support individuals, families, and children. My focus is on empowering clients to achieve their personal goals and improve their overall well-being.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative, combining several evidence-based modalities to best meet the unique needs of each client. I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is another key approach, which focuses on teaching mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Additionally, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients accept their thoughts and feelings and commit to actions that align with their values. For those who have experienced trauma, I incorporate Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to provide specialized support and healing.
My focus
I typically work with a diverse range of clients, including adolescents, adults, and families. I am most comfortable treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related disorders. My experience also includes working with clients facing life transitions, relationship issues, and emotional dysregulation. My goal is to provide a supportive and empowering environment where clients can work towards their personal goals and improve their overall well-being.
My communication style
My communication style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. Working with me feels like a partnership; I listen actively and provide feedback that is compassionate and constructive. My goal is to empower clients, helping them to feel heard, understood, and motivated to achieve their personal goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist began when I was a teenager. I had thought of having my own practice and helping others. I was working at a university that offered free tuition to employees, and I decided to get my master's in counseling. After serving in positions related to community development and owning businesses in the health and wellness industry, I decided to pursue private practice where I could help people improve their mental health and navigate life's challenges. What attracted me most to a career as a therapist was the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Witnessing the resilience and growth of individuals as they overcome obstacles and achieve their goals is incredibly fulfilling. My passion for this work is fueled by the belief that everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and supported on their journey to well-being. This drives me to continuously learn and evolve in my practice, ensuring I provide the best possible care for my clients.
My goals for you
When setting goals with clients, I take a collaborative and individualized approach. We begin by identifying the client's personal values, strengths, and areas of concern. Together, we develop specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals that align with their overall well-being and long-term aspirations. I support clients in breaking down larger goals into manageable steps, regularly reviewing progress, and making adjustments as needed. This process ensures that clients feel empowered and motivated as they work towards their desired outcomes.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we focus on getting to know each other. I will ask about their background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. We will discuss their personal history, any previous therapy experiences, and what they hope to achieve through our work together. This session is also an opportunity for clients to ask questions about the therapeutic process and my approach. By the end of the first session, we will have a clearer understanding of how we can move forward collaboratively to address their needs and goals.
