Hello, my name is Dr. Sohei Breaux-Fujita, Doctor of Psychology and Marriage & Family Therapist. I was born and raised in Japan but completed all of my studies here in the United States, from undergrad to my doctoral program. I know what it feels like to be different and have a passion for working with others who may be in a similar position.
My approach
My approach to therapy is understanding the challenges you are facing from your point of view. Therapy is truly a personalized experience and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. I utilize attachment-based, brainspotting, cognitive behavioral (CBT), culturally sensitive, experiential therapy, family therapy, family systems, internal family systems (IFS), narrative, relational, solution-focused, and sandplay modalities.
My focus
I focus on working with individuals, couples, and families. My areas of specialization include addiction, alcohol use, anxiety, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, chronic illness, coping skills, depression, divorce, drug abuse, dual diagnosis, emotional disturbance, family conflict, grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, life transitions, mood disorders, racial identity, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual addiction, stress, substance use, transgender issues, trauma, and PTSD.
My communication style
I communicate with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and an open mind. My style is collaborative - I listen closely to understand your unique perspective and needs. Together, we'll find the personalized approach that resonates with you.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to mental healthcare was inspired by my own experience of feeling different. Whether it's being different than how others look or simply how others think and feel. My focus of studies surrounded the LGBTQ+ community and their families, as well as racial minorities. I have also worked with children and their parents in the past as well.
My goals for you
I look forward to meeting you and making a better today for tomorrow.
