My name is Lisa Wilson, and I am an LCSW (licensed clinical social worker.) My approach to therapy is eclectic. I use more than one approach to therapy to help a person determine and meet their needs. My focus area of practice is Well-Being-Mind, Body, and Spirit.
My approach
My approach is eclectic. I look for specific information to help determine which treatment approaches are best. I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Feminist Therapy.
My focus
My client's focus is adults throughout their Lifespan. This can include self-esteem issues, transitions, relationship issues, empowerment, and the aging process. I can help address depression, anxiety, and mood conditions. I am a part of the LBTQ+ community and can help clients explore gender, identity, and sexuality issues.
My communication style
I create a warm, safe, and comfortable environment where clients can trust the therapeutic process. We are co-creators in helping you become the best version of yourself.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a child, I watched both my parents as helping professionals. They instilled within me important values such as nurturing to help develop potential, educating to help empower, and advocacy to help those who do not have a voice. I learned important lessons during the Civil Rights Movement that are with me today. It is important for everyone to have a place in which they can be heard and understood.
My goals for you
I help clients determine their goals. Usually, in the beginning, goals are broader. Sometimes, after working together for a while, the goals may become more specific. It is up to each individual client and their needs as to what goals will be set.
My first session with you
In the first session, we will discuss any issues with the telehealth process. I will ask specific questions to determine what possible directions we can take to begin the therapeutic process. I will honor the strengths perspective by helping clients become self-aware.
