Welcome! My name is Penny, and I have been a social worker in healthcare for 11 years. My passion is helping adults who are coping with depression, anxiety, grief, chronic illnesses, and other mental health areas. I help individuals adjust & cope with stress & life events.
My approach
I strive to provide a judge-free zone that is safe and authentic. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, & psychoeducational, and other therapeutic interventions. Counseling sessions will consist of identifying problem areas, talking through them, & making a treatment plan accordingly. My goal is to help you through challenges to make a positive impact on your life ultimately.
My focus
Depression, anxiety, bipolar, coping with chronic illnesses, grief, codependency, and alcohol addiction are some of the problem areas my clients have. If your goal is to alleviate symptoms and improve your overall quality of life, please consider making an appointment today!
My communication style
My tone will vary depending on what is appropriate at that time of the session. It may range from formal to informal, humorous at times, motivating, respectful, and optimistic. My demeanor is caring, compassionate, considerate, and altruistic. My listening style is one that is kind, reflective, and connective.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been a social worker in the healthcare setting for over 11 years. In healthcare, I have encountered many who are trying to balance physical and mental health issues while taking on their everyday life responsibilities. My compassion is to help individuals with mental health concerns so they can then work on other aspects of life. I am a licensed clinical social worker in Texas and received my training at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Texas. My college undergrad and graduate degree were completed at Texas A&M Commerce.
My first session with you
In counseling sessions, you will determine what goals you want to achieve. We will work collaboratively on a treatment plan for you. You will be given tools to utilize between sessions to manage symptoms during your everyday activities. In ongoing sessions, we will discuss your progress and can make adjustments to your treatment plan as necessary.
