My name is Krystal Kalt and I'm a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner based in San Antonio, Texas. I value empathy, evidence, and education in my practice and specialize in addressing a range of mental health conditions in older adolescents and adults. I use a combination of medication management, brief supportive therapy, and personalized interventions to help provide symptom relief and improve overall well-being.
My approach
The use of medications in combination with other holistic care may be an effective and appropriate treatment for some individuals. Medication management is tailored to each individual's unique needs, with consideration for benefits versus risks, side effects, time to therapeutic effect, and interactions. I prioritize collaborative decision-making, regularly monitoring and adjusting medications to optimize therapeutic outcomes while emphasizing open communication and patient education throughout the process.
My focus
My experience has allowed the opportunity to work with a diverse range of adults and adolescents including those who are experiencing depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, psychosis, substance use, intellectual and developmental delay, and post-traumatic stress disorders. I do my best to provide culturally considerate care and my comfort level extends to those in the perinatal period, LGBTQ+ population, military, and those with different religious backgrounds.
My communication style
I strive to establish a therapeutic alliance characterized by empathy and collaboration. During our sessions, you can expect a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere where your concerns are valued. I aim to provide guidance and tools that empower you to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience.
My first session with you
Appointments are done best in a private and comfortable area. During our first session, I will ask questions about your medical, psychiatric, and social history. We will talk about the reasons you are seeking treatment, your symptoms, and how they are impacting your daily life. We'll discuss your goals for treatment, then choose the treatment that best suits your needs.
