My name is Audra Mathis. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Texas. I enjoy helping people find their way through life's challenges, life transitions, and life's triumphs.
My approach
I work collaboratively with my clients, helping you find your way, looking for solutions to whatever troubles you. You are the expert of your life. I'm a guide here to point you in the right direction when you are off track. I used evidenced-based modalities, like CBT, SFBT, and motivational interviewing, during our sessions.
My focus
With over 10 years of professional experience, I have worked with so many amazing individuals, couples, and families. Whether you are contemplating a life change, dealing with a diagnosed mental health disorder, or finding ways to improve your life, I'm here to help you.
My communication style
People often tell me I am very easy to talk to and they feel comfortable working with me. It's a huge compliment! When you work with me, expect to be treated with compassion, maybe a little bit of tough love here and there when needed, guidance, and patience -- and we might even laugh at times! I value your time spent with me and I want to be helpful to you.
My journey to mental healthcare
Why do I do this? Plain and simple -- I love helping people. From the time I was a teen, I was frequently told I was a good listener and I was easy to talk to. When I was ready for a career change, nearly 15 years ago, I decided to become a therapist and put many of my people skills to use. I've enjoyed every minute of it!
My goals for you
Reaching goals takes time and attention. When you set a goal, I will help you set the objectives necessary to reach those goals. I want you to succeed! If a goal is not met, we will work together to review the goal, set reasonable expectations, and offer you encouragement to get there.
My first session with you
Our initial session is what I like to call "Getting to Know You". This is where you and I get to ask each other questions and find out if it's a good fit for us to work together. I may ask questions about your goals for treatment, your background, some family history, etc. in order to establish who you are and what you would like to work on in therapy.
