Sherry Miller, M.S., LPC (OK, TX, WI), LCPC, (IL), LMHC (FL, MA), CSADC (IL), CSAC (WI), LADC (OK), M-CAP (FL), ICS (WI), BC-TMH. Hi there. My name is Sherry Miller. I have a Master of Science in Human Service Community Counseling from National Louis University in Chicago, IL. I pride myself on strict confidentiality, with a unique insight into my consumers. Because I have been in a program of Recovery from Alcohol, Drugs, and Codependency for the past 28-plus years I know firsthand what it takes to find the truth of oneself and want to assist you with your own unique and personal journey of self-awareness. I am dually licensed to treat mental health and substance abuse concerns. I am also licensed as an Independent Clinical Supervisor in the field of Addictions. My clinical interests include family dysfunction, addiction treatment, co-dependency, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and family, individual, or group counseling. I have over 28 years of experience in the treatment of anger, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, behavioral issues, parent education, fearfulness, addiction issues, and co-occurring disorders. I am board certified to do telehealth (counseling over the Internet) for clients who cannot make it to the office for their counseling appointment or prefer the comfort of having their counseling session in the privacy of their own home. I am experienced in working with all ages, genders, and the LGBTQ community. In addition, I have experience working on a college campus with college-age people. In my free time, you will find me spending time with my cats and dogs, riding my horses, riding my bike, or working out at the gym.

My focus
My clinical interests include family dysfunction, addiction treatment, co-dependency, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and family, individual, or group counseling. I have over 28 years of experience in the treatment of anger, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, behavioral issues, parent education, fearfulness, addiction issues, and co-occurring disorders.
My communication style
Because I have been in my own recovery for the past 29-plus years, I am familiar with what you may be going through. Because I have done the work myself, I have the luxury of asking you to do the tough things that you need to do to become your best self with peace in your soul. I am extremely empathetic, although when I need to tell you the truth I will. I believe the sooner we live in our truth the quicker we feel free. "To Thine Own Self Be True".
My journey to mental healthcare
Since the time I was a young girl, I have always been compelled and motivated to help others. As I grew older and went through trials and tribulations of my own. At age 40 I began a recovery program of my own and have been on this recovery journey for almost 30 years. I believe the universe picked me to be a helper and I am following what was meant to be my purpose in this lifetime. I am blessed to have been given the gift of great intuitiveness which I use for the purpose of helping others.
My goals for you
Goal-setting is a collaborative process. The client will always establish what they would like to accomplish in therapy. As a therapist, I will assist by managing expectations of what is realistic and achievable. The therapy process is always about what the client wants/needs.
My first session with you
In our first session, we will get to know one another. I believe it is important to get a clear blueprint of who/where you are and who you want to be/where you want to go. It is important that you get to know me as well because together we are going to go on a journey that will change your life. You need to feel safe and secure with the therapist who is going to go on this life-changing journey with you. If you decide to choose me, I will be greatly honored to travel with you on your road to recovery.
