Psych-biological, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian
My focus
I have over 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples, adolescents, and children in private practice settings, inpatient settings, and schools. I work with anxiety and depression, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, psychosis, PTSD, and trauma. I also have experience working with active duty military, their dependents, and veterans.
My communication style
I am respectful and comforting. I create a relaxing, open, and informal environment allowing a little humor when appropriate. I prefer to lighten the mood by not taking life so seriously while being straightforward and direct when needed.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was intrigued by the first college course I took in psychology. I was fascinated by how humans perceive, think, and act and I still am today. I love learning new things about the way our brains work.
My goals for you
We identify together what would most improve their current well-being and articulate initial goals for therapy that may be revised as needed.
My first session with you
Our first session is a "get to know you" session where I will typically ask you about what it is that brought you to therapy and explain my theoretical context and strategies that I utilize and then we articulate your goals.
