Hi there, I'm Madeline!

Hi. My name is Madeline "Vicki" Gardiner. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness, and EMDR. With a compassionate and client-centered approach, I focus on helping individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. My practice is dedicated to empowering clients to develop practical coping strategies and achieve lasting positive change.

My approach

As a therapist, I believe in creating a warm and supportive environment where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. I also integrate elements from other evidence-based approaches such as mindfulness and solution-focused therapy, depending on the client's unique needs. By working collaboratively, I aim to empower clients to build resilience, develop practical skills, and achieve their personal goals.

My focus

I typically work with adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I am most comfortable treating conditions related to mood disorders, stress management, and self-esteem issues. My practice also focuses on helping individuals develop coping strategies for managing trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties, ensuring each client feels supported and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

My communication style

In my therapy sessions, I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe and understood. I approach each session with empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in my clients' well-being. Working with me feels collaborative and supportive, as I believe in partnering with my clients to explore their challenges and develop practical solutions. My goal is to foster a space where clients can express themselves freely, feel heard, and leave each session with a sense of hope and empowerment.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist began as a school teacher and then as a school counselor, where I discovered my passion for supporting students' emotional and mental well-being. The desire to help individuals navigate their challenges on a deeper level led me to pursue my LPC. What drives me in this work is the privilege of guiding clients toward healing and personal growth, witnessing their resilience and transformation along the way.

My goals for you

In goal setting, I use a collaborative, client-centered approach to ensure that goals are both meaningful and achievable. At the start of therapy, we work together to identify your key concerns and aspirations, then break these down into specific, measurable objectives that fit your values and circumstances. I encourage you to take an active role in defining these goals, which helps maintain motivation and investment in the process. Throughout our work, we regularly review and adjust these goals as needed, celebrating progress and addressing any challenges. My approach is adaptable, allowing you to set the pace and direction of your journey while keeping us focused on meaningful outcomes.

My first session with you

In our first session, clients can expect a warm and relaxed atmosphere where they can share their story at their own pace. We'll explore what brought them to therapy, discuss any immediate concerns, and identify their goals for our work together. I take time to gather background information to better understand their experiences, while focusing on building trust and rapport. By the end of the session, clients will have a clearer sense of our therapeutic direction and feel comfortable asking any questions about the process.
