My name is Mikeicia Smith! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas, offering in-person services in NW Houston area and telehealth services statewide. I work with teens, adults, seniors, couples, and families.
My approach
It is my genuine belief that people, as human beings, are unique in their individuality and are experts in their own lives. Because every person and every circumstance is unique, I approach therapy from a holistic perspective. This approach allows me to focus on the person, couple, or family as a whole, and collaboratively, decide which therapeutic technique(s) will be best to obtain your goals.
My focus
In individual therapy, I tend to help clients manage feelings of depression, anxiety, stress, anger, and low self-esteem. In my work with couples, I help clients address frequent conflicts, intimacy, infidelity, and lack of trust. In family counseling, I help with parent-child conflict, sibling conflict, and blended family adjustments.
My communication style
I am passionate about helping others on their journey of personal growth and healing. My mission is to provide clients with a compassionate and warm atmosphere that allows them to feel heard and supported as they discover their inner harmony.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always enjoyed helping clients set and achieve personal goals. I have worked as a case manager, helping clients obtain jobs and housing resources. I have also worked as a school social worker and as a member of the mental health crisis team in Harris County. My jobs in the helping profession have naturally progressed to becoming a therapist.
My goals for you
During your intake session, we discuss your hopeful outcomes for therapy. Collaboratively, we will set goals at the first session and will track and adjust goals as necessary during additional sessions.
My first session with you
Your first session is called your intake session. During this session, I obtain a full social and psychological history of you. We will discuss your primary reason(s) for seeking therapy. I will ask questions about how you feel emotionally, physically, and mentally. I will ask about your strengths and your coping skills.
