Hi, I'm Ednesha "Nesha" McMullen, LCSW (9179). My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidenced-based practices. I work to empower the client by utilizing Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
My approach
I address a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. Through Mindfulness, I help guide individuals in developing a deeper awareness of the present moment, helping them manage stress and build resilience. CBT is used to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, enabling individuals to foster positive change in their behavior and emotional responses. With EMDR, I work to help individuals process and heal from trauma.
My focus
I primarily work with adults who are navigating significant life challenges, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I also work with individuals navigating family conflict. I primarily work with adults aged 18 and older. My approach is always compassionate and collaborative. I focus on helping clients develop practical coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and achieve a greater sense of balance and well-being.
My communication style
I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and calming environment where clients feel safe and supported. I am empathetic and always want to allow individuals to express themselves openly and honestly. I prioritize creating a space where clients feel heard, valued, and understood, which is essential for fostering trust and facilitating meaningful therapeutic relationships.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist has been deeply rooted in passion for helping others and a fascination with the human mind. My own personal experiences have drawn me to want to understand people's experiences and emotions. I have always had an innate compassion that allowed me to be the "listening ear" for those around me. This naturally led me to pursue a career in mental health. After completing my undergraduate studies in social work, I knew that I wanted to take my understanding to a deeper level. I pursued a master's in social work, where I gained valuable clinical skills and experience working with diverse populations. Through my hands on experiences with clients, I knew I found my calling. Each step of my journey has reinforced my belief in the power of therapy to transform lives. Whether I'm helping clients manage anxiety, overcome depression, or process trauma, my goal is always to provide compassionate support. Becoming a therapist has been a fulfilling and continuous journey of learning, growth, and dedication to the well-being of others.
My goals for you
When setting goals with clients, I utilize a collaborative and client-centered approach. I begin by helping clients identify their values, strengths, and areas where they seek change. Together, we explore what they hope to achieve through therapy and break down these aspirations into manageable, specific, and realistic goals.
My first session with you
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and start building a therapeutic relationship. During this session, I will ask about your background, current concerns, and what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions to better understand your mental health history, coping strategies, and any challenges you're currently facing. This is also a time for clients to express concerns you might have about the therapy process.
