Hi, Tammy Snyder, LPC/MHSP, NCC. I use numerous approaches in therapy. When meeting a client and understanding their struggle or concern; I conclude which theory would best serve the client. Regardless of the method, I try to create a warm and comforting environment for each client.
My approach
I use various approaches in sessions ranging from Trauma Focus, Talk therapy, Narrative-based, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psycho-drama, Psychodynamic, and Solution-Based therapies. There are other uses but I ensure, each client's sessions are individualized based on their goals and needs.
My focus
I work with clients from various backgrounds. Trauma/PTSD, I am BIPOC, Racial, and LGBTQIA allied, victims of abuse, generational trauma, anxiety/depression, young adults and elderly clients all receive services in a caring and judgment-free environment.
My communication style
I am an authentic clinician who listens, guides, and challenges my clients. I collaborate with my clients because we are a team. I would like my clients to feel they can communicate their true thoughts and feelings without being judged.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist after working as a teacher for 11 years. I realized the importance of providing mental health services, because of the great impact mental has on all individuals of various ages. I wanted to be a part of the solution and help more individuals through their mental health journeys, which in turn, would create a mentally healthier society.
My goals for you
Goal setting with clients in a team effort. Based on the concerns each client expresses. I will guide the client in creating their goals based on the client's desired outcome.
My first session with you
In the first session, the client and I will discuss the normal flow of the upcoming sessions. I will allow the client to ask me questions, allowing the client to become comfortable. I will also find out some of the client's interests and what has worked for the client in the past and vice versa. Lastly, discuss common concerns and housekeeping items.
