Hello! My name is Stephanie Stavinoga and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Tennessee. Life can be really challenging at times. My approach to therapy is warm and compassionate. I have a very eclectic approach to therapy, as everyone is very different. I specialize in working with individuals that are neurodivergent, are experiencing anxiety, or are simply looking to make healthy changes in their lives.
My approach
I utilize a collaborative, strengths-based approach. My theoretical approach to therapy is eclectic; therefore, I purposefully select a therapy, or therapies, which best suit the client, their situation, as well as their your beliefs about personal change.
My focus
As a therapist, I have worked very hard at creating a practice that invites all individuals, wherever they are at in life. My desire is to maintain my commitment to creating a welcoming, diverse and motivating counselling expereince where people come as they are and I meet people where they’re at, regardless of their story.
My communication style
I create a welcoming environment for individuals. Therapy can be hard. I strive to create a tone of understanding, empathy and encouragement for the people that I am privileged to work with. I have many clients that have said that coming to session is like visitig with an old friend. Creating that safe place for people is one of my main goals as a therapist,
My journey to mental healthcare
I find absolute joy in having the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. I find it very humbling to be entrusted in helping individuals navigate through life's challenges and work towards feeling safe, known and confident. Being a part of an individual's progress and growth is an incredible experience that I find great privilege.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a huge facet of therapy. It should always be collaborative between therapist anc client. I make sure that the following aspects are always considered in therapy: 1. Make sure that the goal is specific. The goal should be well-defined and specific, leaving no place for misinterpretation, nor confusion. 2. Make the goal measurable. The goal should be easily trackable, as well have the ability to be measured. 3. It has to be achievable! Goals should be attainable and realistic, especially when beginning. So often, individuals make unrealistic goals and unfortunately set themselves up for disappointment! My goal as a therapist is to help the process by setting up realistic goals, while encouraging the client as we move forward.
My first session with you
The first visit with me will be different from future visits. The initial visit is a time to get to know each other, answer questions, and get an idea of how to proceed. I utilize this time to get to know my client on a personal level, as well as assist them in establishing their needs. To me, this is the best time to form the therapeutic alliance. I believe in teamwork as a therapeutic necessity.
