Hello! My name is Liz, and I'm not your average therapist. I am multi state licensed as a Mental Health Counselor with a Masters degree from Stetson University. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, grief and trauma. When I'm not being a therapist, you can usually find me somewhere outdoors, in a tattoo parlor, binge watching a true crime series or getting coffee. I believe that it's important to take care of yourself both inside and outside of therapy, and I'm here to help you do that
My approach
I use a variety of evidence-based therapies to help you work through anxiety, depression, and other mental health struggles. I consider my treatment approach to be one of an eclectic nature with modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Coping Skills Development.
My focus
With almost a decade of experience in the field, I've developed a niche in the addiction recovery and Military/Veteran/LEO communities. My therapeutic style and approach is a good fit for adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions, grief, trauma and addiction recovery support.
My communication style
I bring a little bit of humor and a lot of empathy to every session. If you're looking for a therapist who's all about rigid boundaries and textbook techniques, then I'm probably not your cup of tea. But, if you're looking for someone who's down-to-earth, easy to talk to, holds you accountable and is a little bit sarcastic, then you've come to the right place.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been drawn to helping others. I grew up in New York and after 9/11/2001, I had a goal to enlist in the military, but was not able to. I chose to use my skills in a counseling role. I have worked in correctional facilities, addiction recovery centers, and owned a private practice.
My goals for you
Together, we'll work through your challenges, tap into your strengths, and take the steps towards living a fulfilling, healthy and authentic life one session at a time. I listen to my clients, engage honestly, and tell them the things they need to hear. I encourage my clients to step out of their comfort zone in a safe and supported environment. I challenge my clients to set realistic S.M.A.R.T goals.
My first session with you
The first session is vital in building an initial connection and helps me get a deeper understanding of the therapy process . Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
