I utilize natural conversation while integrating clinical approaches to understanding the struggles that brought you to treatment. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable discussing concerns and working towards better mental health.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started my journey into the mental health field focusing on education, soon realizing the impact of life experiences outside the classroom which impacted the young minds I was attempting to educate. I began to shift gears to concentrating on human development, behaviors, and relationship considerations as one develops through life. I continued my educational aspirations by earning an undergraduate degree in Development Psychology and a graduate degree in Social Work. I began to focus my efforts on fostering mental wellness in my community and utilizing my social work background to understand the complexities that can impact a person’s sense of self. I found myself working in substance abuse treatment facilities, domestic violence shelters, residential programs for at-risk youth, prison settings, and hospitals. I have worked in a variety of settings and have seen the impact of those learning to overcome and find their source of internal healing.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting involves collaboration within the clinical setting to identify meaningful objectives that align with your values and aspirations. Together, we'll create specific, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals. Through regular review and adjustment, we'll teach progress and celebrate achievements, fostering motivation and empowerment on your path to wellness.
My first session with you
We will discuss informed consent and the process of receiving treatment. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your general background and medical history, and any relevant clinical information so I can understand you better. I'll provide an overview of the therapeutic process and answer any questions you may have. While some of my questions may seem vague while others may inquire about more in-depth information, keep in mind that the sessions move at a pace you feel most comfortable. My priority is to ensure you feel heard, validated, and empowered to begin your journey towards healing and growth.
