Hello, I am Colleen Lynch, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Tennessee. Life can be challenging, and at times it can feel like it is too much. I know it can be difficult to take the first steps toward getting help, but I want you to know that in my therapy practice there is no judgement, no matter who you are or what you are bringing in to work on. All are welcome and all are equally valued.
My approach
In my practice I utilize CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), mindfulness, and other theories to find what techniques work best with each person. I work with each individual to help understand what is going on in your head, how it affects you, and what shifts will help you be able to function better. It can be work, but if you are willing to show up and put in the work, change is possible.
My focus
I have a range of experience and enjoy working with individuals working through symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, self worth, OCD, life transitions, stress, relationship issues, and women's issues.
My communication style
Each session we will work together to identify what is most pressing in your life. I find kindness, compassion, and empathy help create a safe place for open conversation. There are no right or wrong answers, your thoughts and feelings are valid and valuable.
My journey to mental healthcare
In school I was drawn to psychology courses, and just wanted to learn more. As I explored the field I was drawn to becoming a therapist. I enjoy working with each person and the challenge of finding what techniques and reflections will help them on their journey in therapy.
My goals for you
I work with each person to identify what they want to gain out of therapy, what issues and challenges are making it hard to function in the way they want to function. At times goals in therapy will shift or change, and I will check with the client to identify what is most important to them to guide the work we do together.
My first session with you
In the first session we will get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. I know it can be hard starting therapy and sharing so much about yourself with someone you don't know, so we will take it at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
