Hello, My name is Marika' D. I am licensed as an independent clinical social worker (LISW-CP) on South Carolina. I focus on the following areas: anxiety, depression, relationships, stress, family dynamics/issues, parenting, life stress, job related stress, education, coping skills/strategies, organization, adjustment, etc. I desire to utilize a strengths-based ans empowerment perspective to help patients feel like active participants in the therapeutic process. I am also comfortable incorporating Christian/faith-based principles if desired.
My approach
I am experienced in utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, short term brief solution focused therapy principles, and person centered therapy principles.
My focus
I work with adults, families and couples. I typically treat a wide range of things such as depression, anxiety, relational issues, adjustment, job related stress, religion/faith concerns, etc.
My communication style
During session, I like to have open communication. I want the patient to feel like an active participant. I encourage input and questions as well as will allow them to lead the session if desired. We work together as a team to help achieve desired outcomes.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe that therapy is a calling, as I desire to help empower people to make better decisions for themselves without fear of stress, anxiety, or other mental health conditions causing immeasurable distress. My goal is to have patients feel heard and valued.
My goals for you
Typically goals are set during the initial or second session, so that a pace for sessions came be determined. Goals are flexible and can be changed at any time. I focus on ensuring that goals are measurable and attainable.
My first session with you
During the first session, we will focus on introducing ourselves to each other. Depending on how comfortable the patients feels, I will either begin delving into the presenting problem or focus more on building rapport (answering questions etc.)
